THE ART OF REVISION
Summer 2025
Every memorable moment of my books is the product of revision — my favorite part of the process. Join me to learn how I revise, layering conflict, character and theme in each successive pass of the book. I’ll reveal my own process for integrating editorial feedback, making the story sparkle and laying the groundwork for what’s to come. We’ll talk about enhancing worldbuilding, threading secrets, enhancing dialogue and nailing that ending, all in service of ensuring that readers feel deeply invested in every part of your romance.
This class will run in Summer 2025 and include:
A live two-hour presentation on the revision process (live, recording made available),
A participant-only live panel of bestselling authors discussing discussing feedback, revision, and when they know the story is right (live, recording made available),
An optional discussion board where participants can ask Sarah in-depth questions and discuss the content of the course. The boards remain for 30 days, so participants can engage as a writing community, and,
A reading and resource list including all books and materials Sarah references in her workshop, provided by email and in the Slack community after the course.

THE ART OF CONFLICT
Autumn 2025
We know that the wallflower makes the perfect heroine for the rake, that the vampire makes the perfect hero for the vampire hunter, that the thief makes the perfect match for the detective. These matches work because of their innate initial conflict, but what does that really mean? How do we build internal and external conflict and keep it alive for an entire book?
Join New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sarah MacLean for an intensive workshop on how to build and maintain great conflict and keep the pages turning as you write your next book.
This class will run for one month in October 2025 and include:
A live two-hour presentation on building and maintaining strong, believable conflict in storytelling (live, recording made available),
A participant-only live panel of bestselling authors, Sophie Jordan, Angelina M. Lopez and C. Travis Rice discussing the ways they build conflict in their books. Participants will be able to submit questions to the panel as part of the course (live, recording made available),
An optional discussion board where participants can ask Sarah in-depth questions and discuss the content of the course. The boards remain for 30 days, so participants can engage as a writing community. And
A reading and resource list including all books and materials Sarah references in her workshop, provided by email and in the Slack community after the course.
